A story in the air of Radio “Freedom”

On December 15, “gender news” of the radio “Freedom” touched current activities of Batumi Gender Advisory Council.

The interviews showed attitude of council members and the partners towards future activities. it was mentioned that besides advocacy of vulnerable groups needs and successful implementation of current projects, advocacy of legislative changes should be actively carried out on the local level. It will increase local self-government eligibility and competence to solve different gender challenges. There was raised the role of GAC network and necessity of collaboration with self-government to elaborate relevant recommendations with local authorities.

A radio program in “Dzveli kalaki”

The Radio “Dzveli kalaki” aired a program, organized by the fund “Sukhumi”, where the members of Kutaisi GAC (representatives of the fund “Sukhumi”, Kutaisi Sakrebulo, local NGOs) talked about participation of Kutaisi GAC in formation of local gender policy. Mainly: where ids the beginning of suggestions and recommendations, what is the position of local government regarding them, which issue will be reflected in new budget.

The guests of the program touched participation in the campaign of 16 active days and defined necessary activities regarding protection of women from gender violence.

A program in the air of TV Company “Egrisi”

In the air of TV Company “Egrisi” there was aired a program, which summarized the work of Senaki GAC.

The first part of the program was devoted to conference, held by the GAC in Senaki. Special story was also prepared for this event.

In the second part there was a conversation about results of three-year activities, which showed necessity of gender approaches for development of municplaity.

At the end of the program, there was expressed a hope that GAC will continue the work, as new institutional mechanism.

A plot on the air of radio "Tavisupleba"

Radio rubric "Tavisupleba" covered the meeting held by the initiative of Fund “Sukhumi” with the members of the Gender Equality Council of Imereti and Samergelo region, as well as with gender advisors and the representatives of local self-government involved in the process of gender budget planning.

In the interview respondents talked about their experiences in implementing gender policy and about challenges. They hope that the recommendations elaborated at the meeting will be used to effectively promote gender policy at the local level.

A film about the project "Empowering Women to Develop New Approaches Relating to the Transformation of the Conflict"

This film is dedicated to the project of fund “Sukhumi” "Empowering Women to Develop New Approaches Relating to the Transformation of the Conflict."

The film, which was prepared by journalists of TV Rioni, reflects the activities carried out within the framework of the project: training with youth and women groups, round tables with a presentation of the research, a meeting in Cyprus, a presentation of the project in Tbilisi.

87 activities with participation of 991 people

Results of WSC work of Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Senaki, Poti and Khurcha/Koki (Zugdidi Municipality) is reflected by informational bulletin, prepared in frames of the project “Strengthening of Women’s Rights in Western Georgia”.

In reporting period July 1 - 31, 87 activities were held with participation of 991 people, also mobilization meetings, workshops, consultations of psychologist and lawyer, youth clubs, focus-groups and in-depth interviews, monitoring groups, informational meetings, performances of the forum-theatre.

2016 budget and local gender prospects

On October 21, TV Company “Rioni” aired a show, which familiarized the audience with the activities of Kutaisi Gender Advisory Council for integrity of gender components in 2016 budget.

The stories, prepared for the program revealed constructive attitude of Kutaisi Sakrebulo and City Hall towards the council recommendations and made obvious the issues, which will be reflected in the new budget, including envisaging gender components in social infrastructure, programs assisting children – autists and many others. According to members of self-government, new initiatives of council, in social sphere as well, will be necessary for the city.

Self-government representatives underlined new and productive relations with self-government. The proof of that is presenting own representative in the City Hall Council, that gives possibility of closer communication and collaboration.

16 day campaign started – meeting with journalists

The fund “Sukhumi” held a meeting with the journalists. Kutaisi media sources received information about 16 day campaign against violence and about planned activities. Radio and TV aired information regarding this event.

In the evening on the initiative of TV Company “Rioni” there was aired a discussion on the topic of campaign, which was attended by the member of Sakrebulo, psychologist, lawyer, representatives of the fund “Sukhumi”. There was announced the main message addressed to each member of society: “Feel Responsibility – Stop Violence”!

"The Olympics give equal rights" - an interesting project for journalists

Research of local gender needs and recommendations for the budget of Kutaisi for 2016 - it was one of the issues at the next meeting with Kutaisi journalists.

But their special interest was caused by project called "The Olympics give equal rights." Kutaisi Gender Advisory Council has developed a draft to the event, that on June 23 in Kutaisi, the Olympic flame will arrive. It serves as the destruction of public stereotypes and the realization of the fact that sport\ is a gender-free arena. It was discussed at the meeting by the project coordinator and the assistant secretary of the GAC.

The meeting was held in the Gender Media Center.

"Gender lights" of the Olympic flame

TV journal “7 Days” of TV Company “Rioni”, aires preparation to Olympic Flame in Kutaisi. The flame will be there on June 23, accompanied by 14 torchbearers and 2 women among them.

The program is related to the project of Kutaisi GAC “Olympiad Gives Equal Possibilities”. The proeject is implemented with co-financing of the fund “Sukhumi” and the City Hall. The aim of which is to show the society that women and men may be involved in sports.

“Gender equality does not mean only political arena”, - considers the chairperson of the GAC, member of Sakrebulo – Irma Petriashvili.

“We make gender stress on the fact that sport is not masculine culture. For this, in frames of the project special T-shirts with symbols are prepared, also informational materials that emphasize the equal progress and results of women "- note the project participants.
