“Prehistory of Georgian-Abkhazian conflict, its continuation and consequences” - this topic was discussed at online trainings with youth initiative groups of Tskaltubo and Tsalenjikha (school No. 1 - village Liya) municipalities. The trainings were held separately for both groups with participation of 40 pupils.

The young people expressed interest regarding the topic in this way. They expressed their desire - to have more communication with their Abkhazian peers. The project will give them with this opportunity.

The project of the Fund “Sukhumi” - "Strengthening the Women's Rights in Western Georgia" is focused on the following issues: - protecting women's rights, strengthening the families, preventing domestic violence and supporting victims, responding to gender problems through cooperation with local governments.

Project presentations have been already held in Terjola, Senaki and Bagdati municipalities. The meetings were attended by representatives of local governments, civil activists. The prospects of responding to the problem of domestic violence and cooperation were highlighted.

The representatives of the municipalities underlined that prevention of domestic violence is the sphere of ​​their interest and they are ready to cooperate with the Fund "Sukhumi".

“Strengthening the Women’s Rights in Western Georgia” - Fund “Sukhumi” has started a new stage of this project… with changes, new directions.

The project area - four regions of Western Georgia: Imereti, Samegrelo, Guria and Ajara. The work will be carried out in the following 10 municipalities: Vani, Bagdati, Samtredia, Tkibuli, Terjola, Senaki, Tsalenjikha, Zugdidi, Chokhatauri, Kobuleti.

One of the innovations is that, for the first time, within the framework of the project, Women Support Centers are being created in Vani, Bagdati, Samtredia, Tkibuli and Chokhatauri.

The Fund "Sukhumi" has its own representatives who will work locally to strengthen women and protect their rights, they will try to advocate and solve problems through a gender-responsive system. The aim of the project is prevention of domestic violence in cooperation and coordination with local governments.

Vani working group has a lot of work, and this was obvious during City Council meetings. IT specialist presented information about updating the official web page - the functions of requesting public information and online petitions, a mechanism for citizens' participation "Plan the budget" will be added. Online broadcasting of City Council meetings and other technical changes are planned. The meeting also reviewed the code of ethics developed for City Council members and the results of the third monitoring conducted by representatives of partner civil society organizations.

Part of the recommendations identified in the framework of two monitoring have already been implemented. Recommendations of the third monitoring will be also reflected in the action plan of the working group. Their implementation will add more transparency and efficiency to the work of local self-government.

Meeting of the working group was held in Terjola City Council. The issue of civil budgeting was discussed during the meeting. The municipality is actively working on the relevant document.Support from the City Hall is needed to complete the document, accordingly a meeting of three members of the working group with the Mayor was planned.

An online petition system is being introduced in Khoni Municipality!

An information meeting was held on April 6, which discussed the importance and necessity of this system.

The members of the working group named the administrative units, where they will hold information meetings with the population according to the plan.

Elaboration of the final version of the Code of Ethics is coming to its end – ordinary meetings of the  working group was held in Khoni Municipality, which was attended by the Chairperson of the City Council Valeri Bakhtadze.

This document differs from the Codes of Ethics of other municipalities. It applies not only to public officials, but also to officials with professional, administrative and labor contracts.

The work is carried out in the framework of the project “A common forum for CSOs from Guria, Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi for PAR Roadmap monitoring”.

The ninth meeting of the CSO Forum was held in Batumi “Hilton” Hotel.

The meeting was attended by 16 civil society organizations registered in 8 municipalities. They analyzed the situation regarding CSO support and funding and their development opportunities in these municipalities.

According to the participants, most organizations have neither experience nor practice of working with donors.

It was noted that mostly regional organizations implement activities in the municipalities and participation in the project will give them possibility to show their opportunities and enrich their experience.

The training on elaboration of grant applications and projects was held in Batumi for the representatives of civil society organizations from eight municipalities.

The second grant competition is currently underway according to the project. The training was devoted to the consideration and adjustment of projects that will be submitted to the competition. The work was quite fruitful, as together with the theoretical part, the training format also envisaged the active involvement of the participants. All organizations were able to correct and improve their project applications.

First activity of the project “Bridging the Gap: People to People Initiatives for Conflict Resolution” was held in Sairme on March 27-28. These were two trainings, which were carried out for two groups on one important topic "Gender Responsive Early Warning System (GREWS)". Members of women and youth initiative groups created within the project from Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Senaki, Zugdidi and Tsalenjikha municipalities participated in the trainings. Using the information obtained during two days, the members of the initiative group will be involved in the process of research, which is planned in the target municipalities.
