The meeting was attended by representatives of local self-government of 10 municipalities of Western Georgia, social workers, representatives of crisis centers and private business, active women.
They were provided with a research conducted by the Fund "Sukhumi" "Support for the employment of women - services for childcare - prevention of domestic violence/violence against women and effective response".
During the meeting, they talked about how much the lack of additional childcare services creates an obstacle in the employment of women and their independent life. It was noted that, based on the data obtained from the monitoring, advocacy will begin to create or develop additional childcare services aimed at women’s needs.

The Monitoring and Advocacy Group of the Fund "Sukhumi" is actively working on qualitative research. The topic of the research is: Challenges related to services offered to women victims of violence (in the field of child care services); Experience in promoting employment and economic activity; Barriers for women victims of violence after leaving the shelter / crisis center.
During the research process interesting information was collected about the services provided by the public and non-governmental sectors.

“My husband violates me almost every day, it’s impossible to stay with him, but I have nowhere to go. Is there any place, where I will be sheltered and saved from this hell? " asks one woman.
The second woman is worried about her neighbor: “Screaming and crying is often heared from the neighbor's house. The husband is a rapist, the wife is unprotected. Can I intervene? What to do? I can't listen to such scenes every day".
All questions - how to be, where to look for a way out, will be really answered here and necessary advice will be given without leaving home.

This is the new website of the Fund "Sukhumi" - "Digital resource center of the services for violence victims."
This platform contains the following information: services for violence victims, legislation, national referral mechanism, publications (reports and researches), mobile application and hotline numbers, answers to various questions, innovations.
The aim of the website is to improve accessibility to all types of services to protect the victims (survivors) of violence against women and domestic violence.
The website was created with the support of the Equality Fund (Canada) and currently works in a test mode.

“The school should be interested in the concept of a safe school. The law on general education clearly states that the school must take responsibility for the violence,” mentioned one of the teachers, a participant of the event.
Teachers, parents and representatives of education resource centers from different municipalities attended a round table, which was held on the initiative of the Fund “Sukhumi”. The topic of the meeting was: “Nonviolent, safe environment in schools and the role of resource centers in promoting non-formal education”.
The participants discussed the existing challenges. During the meeting the recommendations were announced – their consideration will contribute to strengthening of cooperation between resource centers and schools, as well as the formation of a safe school model.

Violence is very often caused by gender stereotypes, so it is necessary to solve them, and the school can play a major role in this process.
“Gender stereotypes and the role of schools in their solution” is a short film prepared by the Tbilisi Representative Office of the Fund “Sukhumi”. The film shows one of the directions of the Fund "Sukhumi" - work with youth and the results of this work, the experience and the lessons learned.

“Schools against challenges of gender equality, gender stereotypes and domestic violence” - a new publication - this publication was prepared by the monitoring and advocacy group of the Fund “Sukhumi” last year. It reflects the results of a research, carried out in 11 municipalities of Western Georgia. Active work is underway to implement targeted policies in schools against gender stereotypes.
In this process, our partner is the newspaper "New Education", which has been published once a week since 1998, and is distributed among subscribers - in schools and universities of Georgia, as well as in government and non-government organizations working in the field of education. An even wider audience is covered by the online version of the newspaper.

“Involving parents in school life - cooperation in activities against gender stereotypes and violence” - a meeting of round format was held on this topic. Among the participants there were students, parents, teachers, representatives of different spheres of society.
They got acquainted with the publication of the Fund "Sukhumi" - “Schools against challenges of gender equality, gender stereotypes and domestic violence”. They talked about the dangers of gender discrimination, about cooperation between teachers and parents in terms of protecting young people from violence. They touched upon the problems caused by the covid-19 pandemic and their solutions. The discussed issues were relevant for all participants, and the meeting was active. Information about the round table was published in the newspaper "New Education".
