The expert group of the Women Fund “Sukhumi” completed field work of the research of gender impact assessment component of the preschool education quality standard - family and community participation.
The research included 12 focus discussions and 28 personal interviews. Several documents were studied and additional surveys were conducted with industry experts.
Based on the survey results, a final report will be developed that will reflect the main findings highlighting the impact of the work of mentioned standard on students, parents, community, and preschool institutions.
The document developed as a result of the research will help to overcome the challenges of family and community participation in preschool education programs and will improve the quality of cooperation between preschool institutions, family, and community.

The monitoring and advocacy group of the Women Fund "Sukhumi" formed advocacy groups in 10 target municipalities of Western Georgia (Tskaltubo, Khoni, Terjola, Vani, Samtredia, Senaki, Khobi, Chokhatauri, Tsalenjikha, Zugdidi - the village Khurcha), whose members are active women of the communities.
The meetings were devoted to identifying and ranking issues for advocacy. The group members were informed that within the framework of the project they have the opportunity to present "civil initiatives" through which they can solve a specific problem with the help of financial support.
Important problems for local communities were identified, which could not be resolved due to lack of finance.
At the meetings it was noted that the implementation of these initiatives will allow to solve specific problems in the communities and will increase the awareness of the advocacy groups.

The Women Fund “Sukhumi” is conducting a research using the GIA tool to assess the gender impact component of family and community participation in preschool education and the standard of education quality. The research is conducted in close cooperation with the Kindergartens’ Association.
Focus groups, in-depth interviews, working meetings, and surveys are used to collect information during the research.
The final report will reflect the gender impact of the indicated program on the target groups (children, their families, preschool institution, community). The final goal of the research is to develop recommendations for expanding the participation and cooperation of families and communities in preschool education policies in order to envisage the needs and characteristics of children.

The monitoring group of the Women Fund “Sukhumi” works on a new research aimed at studying the effectiveness of existing services for victims of violence against women/domestic violence and developing recommendations to identify strategies and new approaches to improve effectiveness.
Information on existing (and/or planned) services has been collected. In order to find best practices, we studied the work of service providers, studied the attitudes, moods and expectations of service recipients/beneficiaries.
In September, 10 in-depth interviews with beneficiaries were conducted, which allowed us to study the current situation in this regard based on specific cases.

The monitoring group of the Women Fund "Sukhumi" continued the cycle of information meetings with vulnerable groups of the population. The meetings were held in Khoni and Tsalenjikha municipalities.
The participants of the meeting were familiarized with the mechanisms of assistance to the victims of violence existing in the country.
It was important for them to learn about the programs available at the municipal and central levels, especially about the family empowerment program, as well as about the services for victims of violence offered by non-governmental organizations.

Domestic violence against women is a problem that is directly connected to security risks and affects the functioning of each sector/sphere of society. Elaboration of correct indicators will ensure early identification of cases of violence and prevention of violence. - This is stated in the introduction of new publication.

The round table in the conference room of Samtredia City Council was attended by local referral entities: members of the Gender Equality Council, representatives of local government, police, social, educational and medical spheres.
During the meeting, the main emphasis was placed on the importance of assisting the victims of domestic violence and cooperation with local structures.
The invited lawyer spoke about national procedures for identifying victims of violence against women and/or domestic violence, their protection, assistance and rehabilitation. She paid special attention to interdepartmental cooperation to promote the prevention of violence.
