Women Support Centers (530)
Women Support Center these are the branches of the Fund “Sukhumi” in Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Terjola, Senaki, Poti, Khurcha / Koki (Zugdidi Municipality), Lanchkhuti, Ozurgeti, created since 2009. The centers are designed to strengthen women, provide social, psychological, legal assistance to women - victims of violence and to crisis families in a difficult life situation. They promote to the protection of women's rights and ensure their socio-psychological rehabilitation.
The project of Poti Women Support Center concerns the kindergartens. In April, informational meetings were held in kindergartens No1 and 3 - with the participation of teachers and parents. In addition to them, a social worker from Poti social agency, a district inspector, a lawyer and a child psychologist were included. Participants were provided with information on how teachers should reveal the facts of violence, how they should identify adolescents of risk groups, and how to react to facts in a timely manner. In both kindergartens, the groups of response were established.
The cycle of workshops under the project of Tskaltubo Women Support Center continues. In April, a workshop with youth and an informational meeting with the school’s administration took place at school No. 1.
Chairperson of Gender Equality Council, Mzia Kikalishvili, was actively involved in the meetings. Young people were familiarized with the question of why gender policy is important in the municipality, what is their role in introduction and implementation of this policy.
Young people expressed the initiative to conduct such meetings. They will be supported by the school directorate to organize and conduct meetings.

According to the project of Lanchkhuti Women Support Center - “Medical Personnel Against Violence”, a training session on the topic “The role of doctors in violence prevention” was held in Sakrebulo. The training was attended by the medical staff and other referral subjects, representatives of the Mayor in the villages, members of the local Gender Equality Council, social workers.
- How to strengthen the functions of the medical staff in identifying violence, how important is the cooperation between these subjects - these questions were emphasized by the project participants in the format of interactive inclusion and discussion.
A small project of Khoni Women Support Center - “Protection of girls’ reproductive health” is being actively implemented. Youth initiative groups, created in two villages - Gocha Jikhaishi and Nakhakhulevi - held meetings on topical issues: women's rights, early marriages and its consequences. These questions were discussed on the examples of characters from different books. Meetings raise great interest of young people.
The girls, who actively participated in the small project of Khoni Women Support Center, created two initiative groups in the villages Gocha Jikhaishi and Nakhakhulevi. Members of the groups began to hold informational meetings with their peers on actual issues: women's rights, early marriage and their consequences.
Participants of the meetings joined the discussion with interest. They noted that such meetings provide relevant knowledge, help them to become self-confident and make their own decisions.
During the reporting period, group and individual meetings of the lawyer were held at the Women Support Centers of Tskaltubo, Senaki, Khoni and Poti, Khurcha / Koki (Zugdidi municipality). The topic of the meeting with the beneficiaries was the law on violence against women / domestic violence. The conversation was about mechanisms for victim protection (arresting and protecting orders), also about interdepartmental council, about the rights of the child and the issue of funded pension. The participants of the meetings received answers to all questions that concern and interest them.
Women's solidarity - this was the topic of group meetings with beneficiaries in Khoni, Senaki, Poti, Tskaltubo, Khurcha / Koki (Zugdidi municipality) Women Support Centers. There were 48 women from 26 to 65 years old. Particular emphasis was put on the relationship of the daughter-in-law and mother-in-law. Women were given advice to avoid conflict situations.
Psychotherapeutic counseling was continued for married couples and members of crisis families. There were also individual consultations (for example, working with 3 adolescents, having traumas after the divorce of parents).
“Types of domestic violence, referral ways and mechanisms” - on this topic, training was conducted with representatives of the Mayor in the villages of Ozurgeti municipality (Natanebi, Bokhvauri, Gurianta, Mtispiri, Melekeduri, Ozurgeti, Nagomari). The training was also attended by assistants to the Mayor and community activists. They stated that the work is necessary for violence prevention, and they are ready to create groups in the community, which will be responsible for identifying and responding to the facts of violence.
The work is carried out in frames of a small project of Ozurgeti Women Support Center.
Lanchkhuti WSC is actively working with medical personnel. In frames of a small project, a training named: “The Role of Medical Staff in Violence Prevention” was held. The training was attended by representatives of the medical sphere, social agency, administrative unit of the municipality, as well as the chairman of the Council for Gender Equality of Sakrebulo. The participants reviewed issues related to violence and noted that active informational work will make it possible to implement a system of timely response to violence.

Informational meeting-discussion with the inclusion of pediatrician for mothers of infants on the topic "The use of modern technology as entertainment, and its negative consequences."
Discussion in the village Nakhshirgele on the topic: “Violence - the responsibility of society, civil liability”.
The format and topics of the meetings aroused great interest among the participants. It was said that these topics should be more intensively discussed in society with the involvement of representatives of a different spheres of society. This will be a step forward in the prevention of violence.
