Series of workshops on the issue of gender and domestic violence are held in the villages of Semanki municipality in frames of the project of Gender Advisory Council “Prevention of domestic violence in Senaki Municipality” (project is co-financed by local government of Senkai and Fund “Sukhumi”).
Workshops are held by the training participants for trainers, organized in the beginning of June. Representatives of society, equipped with relevant trainer skills, spread their knowledge between different groups of village population: pupils, teachers of kindergartens and schools, residents of the villages and etc.
Mentality, personal evaluations and their influence on development of domestic conflicts – these issues were discussed on the workshop in conflict management in Poti, Kutaisi and Koki (Zugdidi Municipality).
Participants – young people tried to analyze the topic: according the scenery, the husband often forgot about the marriage date. Moreover he knows that the wife pays particular attention to it. The conflicts starts mainly for this reason.
According to the young participants of the meeting, people have different values, and this is often the cause of the conflict. During the discussion, it was mentioned that family relations are based on mutual respect. Therefore, the details unimportant for one side, can be important to the other one.
This debate helps young people to think correctly, and take into account the details that contribute to the conflict management.
- How to held the victim of violence. Who is considered under the referral subjects, how their responsibilities are defined by the law – these issues were discussed during the workshops with the group of youth and women in Kutaisi, Khoni, Tskaltubo, Senaki, Poti and khurcha (Zugdidi municipality).
- prevention of violence should start with society activity. Each person should feel civil responsibility in case of violence and timely be involved in the conflicts of neighbors, friends – mentioned participants of the meeting.
During the discussion, while conversation about referral subjects they made a stress on special meaning of school. According to them school is one of the major units which must be actively involved in the process of prevention of violence.
Participants of the workshops give special importance to the campaign of 16 active days and considered it as important step in solving the problem.
Graduates of the course in conflictology conducted 4 workshops in the schools of Poti and Kutaisi on the topics: "Concepts of masculinity and femininity" and "Types and methods of conflict resolution". Also, there were presentations of the forum-theater and discussions in the schools of Kutaisi and Khoni. These activities have made a special impression on young people who have noted, that they want to participate in similar workshops and discussions.
This work is carried out in frames of the project of Fund “Sukhumi” "Promoting non-violent conflict resolution among youth through training in Western Georgia".
