The twenty eighth meeting of the Gender Advisory Council of Senaki was held on July 11. The meeting was dedicated to the preparation of the summarizing conference, where the GAC members plan to share their work experience, achievements and results with the representatives of the other municipalities of the region.

At the Conference there will be invited representatives of the municipalities of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, representatives of the Governor’s Administration of the region, Fund “Sukhumi” and local self-government.

The fund “Sukhumi” started preparation for the campaign of 16 active days against violence towards the women.
On November 4 there was held a meting, attended by the chairpersons of the project “Strengthening of women’s rights in Western Georgia”, assistants, lawyers, psychologists, mobilizers of tej Women Support Centers of Kutaisi, Khoni, Tskaltubo, Senaki, Poti, Khurcha/Koki (Zugdidi Municipality).
Participants overviewed the plan of conducting campaign, made ammendmnts, expressed ideas and initiatives.
There are more than 100 activities under the plan, with participation of all units of the Fund “Sukhumi”.
With joined efforts in Western Georgia once again there will be held a powerful information campaign with the aim of prevention of violence and protection of victims.

Women initiative group of Kutaisi conducted a performance “Pirimze” of the puppet theatre in the kindergarten “Stars”. The performance was made in frames of the project of Kutaisi GAC. It is a propaganda of friendship, love kindness, equality. The main character breaks existing stereotypes. The aim of the performance – formation of correct gender thinking among the children. The performance was devoted to 16 day campaign.

Partnership with Czech non-governmental organization «The independent socio-environmental movement “NESEHNUTI” is carried out for 4 years. Arranging festivals of youth forum-theatres, support of gender advocacy process in Kutaisi, Bar Camp in Kutaisi, hosting youth international group of the fund “Sukhumi”.
More than 20 representatives of Czechoslovakia, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia actively familiarized with activities of the fund “Sukhumi”, number of questions was put and great interest was shown towards women organization.
In frames of partnership development a trip of fund member is planned in 4 countries of Western partnership.

On April 18-19, the Fund "Sukhumi" organized a study tour to Prague in frames of the project "Studying the experience of the B4 countries for advocating equal, inclusive and democratic governance at the local level".

The meeting was attended by project partners from the Abkhazian side, experts, project participants from the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, representatives of the fund “Sukhumi”.

The following questions were raised: Familiarization with the experience of the Visegrad countries in achieving gender equality; Role of civil society in ensuring gender equality and euro integration; Presentation of the activities of the Fund "Sukhumi" and its contribution to the institutionalization of gender mechanisms at the local level.

With the help of the partners, an interesting meeting was organized with the local Self-government "Prague 10" to familiarize with the experience of gender mainstreaming in the local municipality.

A key place during the meeting was the discussion of methodology and development of a research methodology for policy documents on gender mainstreaming in local authorities in the context of European integration.

Representatives of the fund “Sukhumi” took part in the conference, which was held in Tbilisi, for summing up the work of National Network for Protection from Violence.
Organization prepared projects for making changes in the law, in order to ensure regulation of the issue of involving local self-government in the activities against domestic violence.
The law bills are submitted and discussed in the Parliament of Georgia.

Meeting of Ozurgeti GAC discussed organizational issues, changes in the status.The main time was devoted to summarizing the research of local gender needs. The members of the GAC presented brief reports on trends, identified during resarch. Based on the fact that the past research was conducted in Ozurgeti and present - in the villages of the municipality, they were able to make parallels. Emphasis was made on the low level of awareness on budget issues.
At a future meeting recommendations will developed for submission to the local government.

Ozurgeti Gender Advisory Council met the deputies of the municipality and the teachers and pupils of the schools, where there is being implemented the project funded by local self-government: “Youth for Promotion of Gender Policy”.
The teachers positively evaluated the project. The conversation touched its importance, the fact that the youth have opportunity to receive informal education in the issues of gender and become more active.
The school representatives were given information regarding the campaign of 16 active days against violence towards the women. They expressed a will to participate in the campaign.
The same day there was held a meeting with the group, which works on the issues of integrity of gender issues elaborated by the council in 2016 budget. It was mentioned that in comparison with the previous years there is mopre readiness from the side of local self-government in this direction.

Ozurgeti Gender Media Center organized a meeting in the Center of Democratic Engagement named: “Discussion for Initiatives”, in which Ozurgeti GAC was involved. The meeting was attended by representatives of local self-government, NGOs, Media and society. The aim of the meeting was to suggest new initiatives and recommendations to the government, which will be envisaged while planning 2016 budget.
As it was noted gender budget is not different budget for men and women, it means envisaging gender aspects in the budget processes. So the Gamgeoba fully realized necessity of implementation of projects, presented by the GAC and allocated financial resources for it.
Gender Advisory Council submitted recommendations and gender policy plan revealed after analysis of sociological research and which was created based on these recommendations. Self-government representatives mentioned that they are ready to discuss any kind of recommendations.

The meeting of Ozurgeti Gender Advisory Council was devoted to evaluation of gender needs, which will be carried out in the villages of municipality (last year the area of the research was Ozurgeti).
The meeting was held on the methods of work-shop research. The participants were explained the principles of in-depth interviews, focus-groups and inquires. The groups were allocated and the respondents were chosen.
