This Guide for Journalists - "Standards for Responsible Reporting on Violence Against Women", prepared by the Women Fund "Sukhumi", provides practical advice and best practices for reporting on gender-based violence (GBV) survivors and women activists. It emphasizes the importance of avoiding victim-blaming language, respecting privacy and dignity, highlighting strength and resilience, and promoting zero tolerance toward GBV within society. Activities of Tskaltubo initiative groups

The members of Tskaltubo youth group started the meeting by evaluating project activities. The leaders presented the work done with the help of presentations and discussed the results. Especially the polarization of peaceful topics was identified. Against the background of high interest, they plan to continue working on these issues. Based on the advocacy plan, the Women Initiative Group will try to solve the identified problems with various activities. The participants have received specific tasks, which will become a guarantee of effective advocacy.

A Discussion: Life Beyond Enguri

The Democracy Research Institute (DRI) held a discussion on "Life Beyond Enguri: The State of Human Rights Protection in Gali." In her speech, the representative of the Women’s Fund "Sukhumi" Tbilisi office informed participants about the level of human security of the conflict-affected populations on both sides of the dividing line, based on the organization’s recent research findings. She also discussed the potential impact of the "Foreign Agents Law" on the legal status of these populations.

The discussion also addressed issues related to the rights to movement and education for Gali residents, as well as problems faced by the displaced women.

Advocacy for problems solution

An information meeting was held in the IDP community of the Choma district, (3 Leselidze Street) Kutaisi. The community leader spoke about the forms of civic engagement and its importance in solving existing problems. The main problem of the community is damp walls. Women began the process of advocacy. A statement with signatures was prepared and submitted to Kutaisi City Hall for response.

The people participating in our project, who gained knowledge and skills, are now trying to mobilize and empower the women of the community to solve problems.

Women's activity to empower the community

During an online meeting, members of Kutaisi Women's Network identified problems, discussed problems that are important to their communities. Their activity will help to strengthen the community and support women's initiatives.

Women from Kutaisi and representatives of four municipalities, will take part in human security training, which will be held in Batumi.

Training course for another group has completed at the Kutaisi Day Rehabilitation Center. Women learned the secret of mastering polymer clay and received certificates.

It challenges harmful and false beliefs that circulate in society, such as the idea that women domestic violence survivors provoke violence, that domestic violence is a private family matter, that fighting against domestic violence destroys families, and that feminism undermines traditional family values.

With the information on the banner, readers will discover the truth behind these common myths and understand the real dimensions of gender-based violence.

In the new social clip from the Women's Fund 'Sukhumi', actresses Nino Tcholadze and Nantso Tsvirashvili from Kutaisi's Lado Meskhishvili State Drama Theater explain how to recognize gender identity disinformation.

During the information meeting, an active member of the initiative group spoke about the forms of civic participation, its necessity and problems of community. An acute problem for internally displaced persons living in Kutaisi, in the administrative building of a former tractor factory, is damp walls, which pose a threat to the health of residents and the building itself.

The meeting reviewed a statement, which will be supported by signatures and handed over to local authorities to take appropriate measures.
