Meetings - in this category there is an information about meetings in frames of Fund “Sukhumi” projects - meetings with beneficiaries, representatives of state structures, local and international non-governmental organizations.

  

The activities carried out within the framework of the National Action Plan of the Security Council "On Women, Peace and Security" for 2016-2017 and aspects of a new action plan these topics were discussed at a consultative meeting in Kutaisi - Bagrati Hotel.

The meeting was led by Sofo Japaridze, an assistant to the prime minister, chairman of the interdepartmental commission working on gender equality, violence against women and domestic violence, and Anna Pashalishvili, representative of the UN Women's Organization to Georgia.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the fund “Sukhumi” and other organizations working on these issues, as well as journalists.

An enlarged meeting of the Council of Advisors took place in the assembly hall of Khoni. In addition to the members of Advisors’ Council, the event was attended by representatives of legislative and executive authorities, active community groups, beneficiaries of social projects, youth, journalists.

The meeting presented the work done within the framework of the project, as well as the innovative services introduced, which, according to the speakers, are approved in Khoni.

Nicosia is the only capital in the world divided as a result of the conflict - the capital of the Republic of Cyprus, a member of the European Union and partly recognized by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. That is why the joint meetings took place here. At the meetings, studies were done and published to transform the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict.

Representatives of the Fund "Sukhumi" met with representatives of NGOs working in Nicosia and Limassol. Particularly interesting was the visit to the "House for Cooperation", which is located in the buffer zone, the so-called. Green line. This is a free space where Greek and Turkish Cypriots meet each other, cooperate in different projects, work together, carry out different activities, drink coffee together ...

Several days in Nicosia were the days when participants in the meetings shared the Cypriot and Georgian-Abkhazian experience, which was very necessary and useful for partner organizations.

The Fund “Sukhumi” actively collects information in the framework of monitoring the implementation of the Georgian law on the elimination of domestic violence, protection and assistance to victims of domestic violence. In October, focus groups were held with doctors and mobilizers of Women's Support Centers, as well as in-depth interviews with a member of the victim status group and with the head of Kutaisi Legal Aid Center. At the meetings, emphasis was made on changes in the law, on its positive and negative sides.

The Fund "Sukhumi" received Annika Bekker - representative of the donor organization "Rotfür die Welt" - EvangelischerEntwicklunsdienst (Germany), coordinator in the South Caucasus. The staff of the fund familiarized her with the situation in the country in terms of violence against women and the work of the organization in this context. The meeting was held in a businesslike setting.

On the same day, Annika Becker met the mobilizer and activists of Kutaisi Women Support Center, and also attended the forum-theater performances at school No. 1 in Tskaltubo.

Thus, the representative of the donor organization received interesting information about the project of the Fund “Sukhumi”: - "Strengthening Women's Rights in Western Georgia".

In frames of monitoring the law against domestic violence, the monitors of the fund “Sukhumi” conducted in-depth interviews with the judges of the Kutaisi City Court, as well as with representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kutaisi and Tskaltubo. The information received will be processed and recommendations based on it will be prepared.

Concerning the reform of the project of the manual for IDPs, several meetings took place, at which people express their opinions. Of particular interest are considerations of state employees, thst is why an in-depth interview was conducted with Zaza Chachava, the head of the Representative Office of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia in Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi.

The meeting was held within the framework of the project "Inclusion of NGOs working on issues of social protection in the strategic dialogue in Georgia" (funded by the European Union and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic).

On September 11 representatives of the organization International Alert - Eurasia Program Manager Sofia Pagsley and a Camille Market came to the Fund "Sukhumi". With the support of this organization, the fund “Sukhumi” carried out more several projects. The guests got acquainted with the directions of our work, with peacekeeping activity and plans for the future.

 

On September 5, a council of advisers was held in Khoni Sakrebulo.

Participants of the meeting listened to information on current social projects, on the local organization of social services, on the Women's Support Center of the fund “Sukhumi”. And also got acquainted with the results of monitoring of social budget implemented by the gender marker.

The members of the Council expressed the hope that the document of the priorities of 2018 will reflect the issues envisaged in the strategy and action plan for social inclusion - in this way the local authority undertakes to continue the services introduced by project supported by the organization PIN.

In August one more important group of the Fund “Sukhumi” worked actively - the Monitoring Group on the Implementation of the Law of Georgia on the Elimination of Domestic Violence, on the Protection of Victims of Domestic Violence and their Assistance.

There were held indepth interviews with gender advisors of Tskaltubo and Senaki Sakrebulo, also focus-groups with the members of Gender Advisory Councils, created in these municipalities.

During the meetings there was revealed that local governments are aware of necessity of their participation in the issues of violence prevention. They consider it as a results of cooperation with the FS.
