Women Support Centers (530)
Women Support Center these are the branches of the Fund “Sukhumi” in Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Terjola, Senaki, Poti, Khurcha / Koki (Zugdidi Municipality), Lanchkhuti, Ozurgeti, created since 2009. The centers are designed to strengthen women, provide social, psychological, legal assistance to women - victims of violence and to crisis families in a difficult life situation. They promote to the protection of women's rights and ensure their socio-psychological rehabilitation.
The lawyer held a meeting with residents of the village Kviriketi of Ozurgeti Municipality. The visit was caused by the fact that again, the work is continued in direction of the unloading construction materials from the river Bzhuzhi. The population has two requirements: to return to the river in its course and stop the work.
Together with the population there was planned an action, which attended by the deputy of governor, representative of village Shemokmedi, in the village. Representatives of Governot in the village Shemokmedi - Ozurgeti municipality. The local authorities have noted that they will solve the first problem raised by population. As for the second problem, at this stage they do not promise that the work will be terminated.
In April, legal consultations in WSCs of Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Senaki, Poti and Khurcha / Koki (Zugdidi Municipality) were devoted to different themes: family conflicts, the rights of IDPs, IDP resettlement stages, contract of purchase ...
Beneficiaries used legal advice to solve their problems, related to the appointment of alimony, procedures of divorce stage, giving the status of mother of many children.
The meeting with IDPs in Kutaisi was useful for the participants in the collective center “Mtis Broli”.
The lawyer familiarized them with the information regarding a law against domestic violence, also rights of women in family. During a meeting there were given individual consultations on concrete issues, which were interesting for the participants.
In the Women Support Center of Kutaisi there was held psychological work with inclusive beneficiaries in the art therapy and associative maps, and in WSCs of Senaki and Khurcha (Zugdidi Municipality) there were held group meetings and consultations.
The main topic of these meetings was a conversation, how to recognize the psychological pressure and violence and avoid becoming a victim? One of the main signs of psychological violence is a constant criticism. If your partner regularly criticizes your appearance, behavior, manners, character, behind it really is a conflict. Quiet violence, without the use of physical force does not give the victim an understanding, that it is necessary to change something - this is what was discussed at the meeting.
On April 1, 4, 5 in WSCs of Khoni, Tskaltubo, poti there were held psychological meetings.
Consultations in Khoni and Poti were held according planned topic: “Development of gender roles for prevention of violence against women”. Beneficiaries received information about how gender roles are defined, at what age are they formed, and what should be changed to balance the gender roles in the family.
In Tskhaltubo there were also held 2 individual consultation meetings on different issues.
Statistics is the following: 12 meetings of IDPs and local population with the lawyer in collective centers of Kutaisi, submitting information regarding the mechanisms of law against domestic violence, besides – consultations regarding different questions.
And one more important fact: with the help of lawyer of Kutaisi shelter, the beneficiary contacted the lawyer of the Fund "Sukhumi" for victim status, to extend the right to stay in the shelter and continue rehabilitation course. She presented all the necessary documents, which were sent to Tbilisi, in the commission for the award of victim status. By decision of the Commission, the beneficiary has received the status of the victim and left the shelter.
Lawyers of the fund “Sukhumi” devoted the meeting in WSCs, held in March, to the law against domestic violence. Local population and IDPs received information regarding law mechanisms of protection. The main stress was made on inclusion of local self-government in the process of violence prevention. Also there were given individual legal consultations on concrete issues.
There were held 12 group psychological meetings in collective centers of Kutaisi during a month. The main topic was women solidarity and friendship. 85 women attended from 18 to 68 years old. There were also held individual consultations regarding the problem of family crisis, low self-evaluation between parents and children.
The lawyer held meetings with the residents of the village Makvaneti – Ozurgeti Municipality. As it turned out there are the same problems as in Kviriketi - one company unloads construction materials from the river. People mention that as a result of decline of 6 meters of the river bed the wells lost water.
Solving the problem detected in the village of Makvaneti is the prerogative of the Ministry of Protection of Natural Resources. The letter will be prepared in the name of Minister and the campaign will be planned for problem solution.
In March the psychologist of the Fund "Sukhumi" conducted group meeting in the WSC of Khoni. The theme of the meeting - the impact of traditional culture on psycho - sexual health of women.
Women who are under the strong influence of patriarchal traditional culture, are victims of psycho-sexual problems, and this poses a threat to a healthy relationship of the couples.
For the participants the topic was interesting, and the meeting was interactive.
In the WSCs there were mainly held individual consultations. Some women need a one-time consultation, and for some of them follow visits were scheduled.
