Women Support Centers (530)
Women Support Center these are the branches of the Fund “Sukhumi” in Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Terjola, Senaki, Poti, Khurcha / Koki (Zugdidi Municipality), Lanchkhuti, Ozurgeti, created since 2009. The centers are designed to strengthen women, provide social, psychological, legal assistance to women - victims of violence and to crisis families in a difficult life situation. They promote to the protection of women's rights and ensure their socio-psychological rehabilitation.
In frames of 16 day campaign against violence towards the women in Kutaisi WSC, there was held a meeting with women-probationers. The lawyer familiarized them with the law against domestic violence and main amendments. Psychologist spoke about stresses and traumas of women addressing her. Warm atmosphere gave them opportunity to speak about their problems. They received recommendations, brochures with advices, leaflets, calendar.

In November the lawyer conducted meeting with the residents of Ozurgeti, Dumbadze Street. They defined 3 problems: there is no sewage system, beginning and end of the streets are covered with asphalt, and the average length of about 200 meters is amortized; It has no street gutters of relevant depths and widths and during the rain water comes out.
It was developed an application addressed to the City Hall of Ozurgeti, which is aimed at solving problematic issues, raised at the meeting.

In WSC of Khurcha (Zugdidi Municipality) there was held a group psychological consultation, which was attended by 13 women (5 local and 8 IDPs). Topic: aggression and its forms, types and reasons. It was mentioned that decrease of aggression promotes to prevention of domestic violence. The women noted that till today they have fear of war and “aggression” is very dangerous word for them.
The lawyer of WSC spoke about divorcing and alimony. They had individual questions and received competent answers from the lawyer.

In WSC of Kutaisi there were held psychological and legal consultations. 4 women and 1 men took part for the first time. The issue of psychological conversation was meaning of aggression, its forms, types, reasons. It was mentioned that aggression promotes to domestic violence, they held a work with inquires of aggression of Bassa Darki. Answers struck women, they could not believe that they are so aggressive that they have so many hidden aggression. Psychologist suggested them ways of the work on themselves.
The lawyer responded to individual questions of the meeting participants and discussed with them law of the will and inheritance. Participants of the meeting were interested in the issues of internal and closed wills, as well as the distribution of the heritage according the law, if the hesitant is mentally retarded. To all questions they received appropriate answers.

In Women Support Center of Tskaltubo, on November 12, there was held consultation of the psychologist. The topic was interesting for the audience – social psychological aspects of violence, necessity of reaction to domestic violence – intervention and prevention.
The women were actively involved in the discussion of the issue and received useful advices from the psychologist.
Lawyer of the WSC conducted a meeting with the IDPs, residing in collective center of the sanatorium “Medea” the same day.
The topic of meeting – Georgian Constitution, main human rights and freedom. The conversation touched giving, losing citizenship and other issues. It was mentioned that each citizen is equal to the law.

On November 5, Khoni Women Support Center held information and consultation meeting in the village Gocha Jikhaishi.
Subject of psychologist concerned the violence and its social and psychological aspects, need to respond to domestic violence - intervention and prevention
The lawyer acquainted participants of the meeting with the Law on “Combating Domestic Violence, protection and assistance of victims of domestic violence ".Also there were provided legal advices on the issues of duty of the husband after the divorce, division of property and alimony payments.
Women expressed gratitude and asked the Fund "Sukhumi", to continue meetings with them.

Topics of the conversation with the lawyer: amendments to the law against domestic violence.
The issues were connected with each other. Aggression – way to domestic violence and the law, which was adopted in 2006, but there are still changes and amendments, as it is not a strong mechanism against violence.
The participants mentioned, that today our society is aggressive, that cruelty, anger, arrogance, jealousy, evil, cry - are symptoms of our communication. What can be changed? How? What women can do for this? - This is what was discussed at the meeting of the psychologist and lawyer in Senaki Women's Support Centre.
Women received not only new information but also practical advice and answers to questions that interest them.

On November 3, the lawyer of the fund “Sukhumi” conducted informational-consultative meeting with the IDPs residing in Kutaisi, collective center of the hotel “Khvamli”. They were consulted regarding solution of their accommodation problems. The meeting participants were given information regarding a problem of domestic violence and prevention mechanisms. Besides they were familiarized with the issues, related to will and inheritance (inheritance by law, inheritance by will, homemade testament, closed will, the obligatory share, etc.)

After information and consultation meetings with the lawyer of Ozurgeti Gender Advisory Council, several problems are already solved such as: rehabilitation work on Chanchibadze and Nikoladze streets were finished the roads were covered with asphalt.
At this time, a lawyer met the villagers of Gagma Dvabzu - Ozurgeti municipality. At the meeting it was noted that the road to the village is amortized. It is necessary to make a barrier on the way to school, so that drivers reduced speed in this area.
The participants also received individual consultations on issues of civil, social and administrative law.

In WSCs of Tskaltubo, Poti and Khoni there were held legal consultations, which were attended by IDP and local women. The meeting discussed several issues: procedures of giving the status of victim, divorce, appointment of alimony. In WSC of Khurcha the legal consultation was devoted to illegal crossing the border. The lawyers of WSCs gave detail explanations to the meeting participants regarding interesting for them questions. There were held individual consultations too.
