Meetings - in this category there is an information about meetings in frames of Fund “Sukhumi” projects - meetings with beneficiaries, representatives of state structures, local and international non-governmental organizations.

 

Informational meetings in Khoni, Koki and Kutaisi were devoted to the issues of gender violence reasons and protective mechanisms.

Most active in khoni were the boys. According to them the girls also should be involved in the discussion, in order to be aware in all issues.

According to Koki youth they began speaking on this topic at the meetings of the fund "Sukhumi" and now they freely make a reasonable conclusion.

The meeting held with the students of Kutaisi, began with brief information about the Fund "Sukhumi". Interactive showed that the topic for them is interesting and relevant

On May 18 in the conference hall of Tskaltubo Gamgeoba, there was held a presentation of the project results: “Improving conditions of IDP communities”.

The presentation was attended by the representatives of local government.

Young IDPs spoke about workshops conducted in frames of the project and problems revealed in collective centers. Representatives of local self-government expressed readiness to carry out monitoring, study the problems and find ways of their solution.

The board of Khoni held the first meeting of the Council of Advisors, established in the framework of the project "Involvement of NGOs working on the issues of social protection, in the strategic dialogue in Georgia." The council approved current members and the statute. It is composed  by representatives of the government and various social groups.

On the same day in the hall of the City Council there was held a meeting of presentation of the project and there was signed a memorandum of understanding between the organization «PIN - Georgia" and the board of the municipality of Khoni. The presentation was attended by local public employees, as well as representatives of organizations working in direction of social protection and health care and NGOs.

According to the participants, the joint activity will contribute to the cooperation of NGOs and public institutions, increase the efficiency of the model of social inclusion at the national as well as local levels.

The project is funded by the European Union and carried out by the Czech non-profit organization "People in Need» (PIN). The partner of the project in Khoni is the Fund "Sukhumi".

   

The informational meeting, held in the kindergarten of the village Teklati was attended by the representatives of the village - Ia Abuladze and representatives of Kindergarten Unity.

The teachers spoke about the work in frames of the “Village project” – repair of "wet spots", the overlap of the building, replacement of windows. It was noted that in June and July, it is planned to expand and rehabilitation of auxiliary rooms and corridor.

Teachers also spoke about unsolved problems. Children have no landscaped yard, and attractions. Kindergarten has few toys, teaching aids and equipment.

According to explaining of the representatives of kindergarten union, they have no means to solve all the problems, but step by step they will take into account and gradually solve all the issues.

The main topic of discussion, of the twenty-sixth session of the Gender Advisory Council of Senaki were the results of the research conducted by the GAC members regarding local gender needs. They presented brief reports on the research, noting the basic needs of the target groups.

There was also talk about the current project of the GAC carried out in 14 territorial units of Senaki municipality -   10 workshops were held with gender initiative groups established in the villages. The project is ongoing and the next phase will focus on the active involvement of rural youth in the process of prevention of domestic violence.

To firsthand see the results of the research and the process of implementation of a new project, journalists from our partner media were invited at the meeting - the newspaper "Kolkheti", TV "Egrisi" and radio "Dzveli kalaki" (Kutaisi). They spoke with members of the GAC, and in the near future, these activities will be publicized  in the media.

Members of Gender Advisory Council of Senaki conducted a research of local gender needs of women. In frames of the project, there were held 4 focus-groups with the teachers of schools and kindergartens, doctors, women – leaders, young parents, disabled persons, 4 in-depth interviews with the experts of economics, education, local government and health-care. 200 persons were inquired, including socially unprotected women, IDP women and youth.

 As a result of the research there were fixed main needs of target groups – creation of working places, raising the level of education, salaries, raising informing on local budget and programs, business trainings and consultations in small business, long-term bank credits in low percentage, programs of taking care after invalids and elderly and many else.

This is the third research held by the GAC of Senaki for three years of existence. As a result of analysis there will be elaborated recommendations and submitted to local government for envisaging in local budget 2017.

Memorandum of cooperation between the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and the Fund "Sukhumi" was signed on May 5.

The Memorandum defines conditions under which the parties will organize joint activities for the improvement of socio-economic status of women, full integration of IDPs in the local community, as well as support of democratic values ​​and achievement of gender equity.

By signing the Memorandum, the parties have identified the main directions of joint activities and their responsibilities.

 

 

Center of pre-school education conducted a meeting initiated by Ozurgeti GAC and Club of Voter Women on: “Protect Security of Children”.

The meeting was also participated by the representatives of local self-government, medical sphere, journalists.

They spoke about different aspects of violence regarding children, about identification of children according different needs. Meeting is the step forward on the way of establishing inclusive education.

There were raised important issues and were drafter the ways of their solution.

Under the support of relevant services of the City Hall on the initiative of Gender Advisory Counciltehre will be implemented different projects and activities for combating violence against children.

Gender advisory council is created in Tskaltubo municipality. It joins the people, who actively cooperate with the fund “Sukhumi”, participate in different trainings and meetings.

In Sakrebulo there was held the first meeting of the council. Chairperson of the council Georgi Dolidze spoke about the action plans for 2016-2018 for the activities in protection of women from violence.

Chairperson of Sakrebulo – Paata Akhaladze paid attention to the problems, existing in gender equality and mentioned that it is necessary to plan concrete actions in this direction. 

  

Ordinary meeting of Kutaisi GAC presented the participants information about the research of local gender needs. There were defined target groups of the research, functions and duties were allocated. After analyzing results of the focus-groups, in-depth interviews and inquiry, the GAC will elaborate recommendations and submit them to the local government for envisaging in the budget of next year.

In the next part of the meeting participants evaluated the conference, held in frames of the GAC project and spoke about activities, which are necessary to be held at the second phase of the project.

At the end of the meeting, representative of the city hall – Paata Kldiashvili presented the participants “Kutaisi Development Strategy”. Members of the GAC decided to be more actively involved in discussion of the document and establish gender components in separate activities.
